Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken: Steps

  1. Spray your slow cooker (4-6 quarts) with no-stick spray or a little oil. This makes cleanup easy.

  2. Put the onion slices flat on the bottom. They make a yummy base and stop chicken from sticking.

  3. Place chicken breasts on top of onions. It’s okay if they touch a bit, but don’t pile them high.

  4. Mix teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and broth (or water) in a bowl. Stir until sugar melts most.

  5. Pour it all over the chicken and onions. Make sure chicken gets covered good.

  6. Put the lid on. Cook it on LOW heat for 4-5 hours or HIGH heat for 2-3 hours. Chicken is done at 165°F inside.

  7. Move chicken to a plate. Rest 5 minutes. Cut or pull apart with forks.

  8. For thicker sauce, set cooker to HIGH. Leave lid off 10-15 minutes. Stir now and then.

  9. Put chicken back in. Mix with sauce and onions.

  10. Taste it. Add a tiny bit of salt or more sauce if you want. Serve hot with rice or veggies!
