This Slow Cooker Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken is packed with tender chicken chunks coated in a rich, glossy honey garlic sauce. Served over fluffy rice with peas, it’s a simple, satisfying dinner the whole family will love.
Ingredients
- 6 boneless chicken thighs, cut into chunks
- 4 tbsp honey
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tbsp tomato purée
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water
- To serve: cooked rice and peas
Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken: Instructions
- Place the chicken chunks into the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, crushed garlic, tomato purée, rice vinegar, ginger, and smoked paprika, if using.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken, stirring gently to coat every piece.
- Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours, or on high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Stir the chicken once or twice during cooking to keep it coated in the sauce.
- About 15 minutes before serving, mix the cornflour with water to make a smooth paste.
- Stir the cornflour mixture into the slow cooker.
- Cook on high for a further 10–15 minutes, until the sauce turns thick, glossy, and sticky.
- Give everything a final stir, making sure the chicken is well coated in the sticky sauce.
- Meanwhile, cook the rice and peas according to package instructions.
- Spoon the rice and peas onto plates.
- Top with the sticky honey garlic chicken and any extra sauce from the slow cooker, then serve hot.
