- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off, then dredge each piece thoroughly in the seasoned flour.
- Heat about 2.5cm (1 inch) of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Fry the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through, then drain on paper towels.
- Meanwhile, cook the bacon in a saucepan over medium heat until crispy, then add the onion and cook for 2–3 minutes.
- Add the green beans and chicken stock to the pan, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes until tender.
- Add salt and black pepper to the mashed potatoes until they taste just right.
- While the beans simmer, place the chopped potatoes in a large pot of salted water and boil for 15–18 minutes, until fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes well, then mash with butter and warm milk until smooth and creamy.
- Add salt and black pepper to the mashed potatoes until they taste just right.
