Poppy Seed Chicken Drumsticks: Directions

  1. Spray a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker lightly with cooking spray so it’s easy to clean.

  2. Dry the chicken legs with paper towels. Take off skin for less fat, or keep it for more flavor like old Amish recipes.

  3. Put chicken legs in a flat layer at the bottom. They can overlap a bit, but keep them even for good cooking.

  4. In a bowl, mix poppy seed dressing, chicken soup, and sour cream until smooth. Taste and add salt or pepper if needed.

  5. Pour the mix over the chicken. Spread it so every piece gets covered well.

  6. Put on the lid. Cook it on LOW flame for 5 to 6 hrs, or HIGH flame for 2½ to 3 hrs. Chicken should be soft and hit 165°F inside.

  7. Stir the sauce around the chicken. For thicker sauce, cook lid off on HIGH 15–20 more minutes, or boil some on the stove.

  8. Move chicken to plates. Spoon lots of sauce on top. Add parsley for pretty color.

  9. Serve hot with sides like rice, noodles, or potatoes—and extra sauce!
