Serves: 4
What You Need
-
2 pounds chicken breasts (no skin or bones)
-
1 cup store-bought teriyaki sauce (the thick kind)
-
1/3 cup brown sugar (packed down)
-
1/4 cup chicken broth or water (low-salt)
-
1 small yellow onion, cut into thin slices

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken: Steps
-
Spray your slow cooker (4-6 quarts) with no-stick spray or a little oil. This makes cleanup easy.
-
Put the onion slices flat on the bottom. They make a yummy base and stop chicken from sticking.
-
Place chicken breasts on top of onions. It’s okay if they touch a bit, but don’t pile them high.
-
Mix teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and broth (or water) in a bowl. Stir until sugar melts most.
-
Pour it all over the chicken and onions. Make sure chicken gets covered good.
-
Put the lid on. Cook it on LOW heat for 4-5 hours or HIGH heat for 2-3 hours. Chicken is done at 165°F inside.
-
Move chicken to a plate. Rest 5 minutes. Cut or pull apart with forks.
-
For thicker sauce, set cooker to HIGH. Leave lid off 10-15 minutes. Stir now and then.
-
Put chicken back in. Mix with sauce and onions.
-
Taste it. Add a tiny bit of salt or more sauce if you want. Serve hot with rice or veggies!
