Ingredients

  • 6 boneless chicken thighs, cut into chunks
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • To serve: cooked rice and peas

Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken: Instructions

  1. Place the chicken chunks into the slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, crushed garlic, tomato purée, rice vinegar, ginger, and smoked paprika, if using.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken, stirring gently to coat every piece.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours, or on high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  5. Stir the chicken once or twice during cooking to keep it coated in the sauce.
  6. About 15 minutes before serving, mix the cornflour with water to make a smooth paste.
  7. Stir the cornflour mixture into the slow cooker.
  8. Cook on high for a further 10–15 minutes, until the sauce turns thick, glossy, and sticky.
  9. Give everything a final stir, making sure the chicken is well coated in the sticky sauce.
  10. Meanwhile, cook the rice and peas according to package instructions.
  11. Spoon the rice and peas onto plates.
  12. Top with the sticky honey garlic chicken and any extra sauce from the slow cooker, then serve hot.

This sweet, sticky, and savoury chicken dish is an easy weeknight favourite — minimal prep, maximum flavour, and always a hit at the dinner table.
