Ingredients
-
12 oz dry spaghetti or thin spaghetti
-
1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, melted
-
4 cloves garlic, chopped small (or 1 tablespoon from a jar)
-
2 tablespoons dried Italian seasoning or parsley mix
-
1 teaspoon salt (if needed, check your butter)
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (if you like)
-
2 1/2 cups hot water (to cook pasta in oven)
Cowboy Butter Pasta: Directions
-
Heat oven to 400°F (200°C). Rub a tiny bit of butter or spray in a 9×13-inch white pan so pasta won’t stick.
-
Snap dry spaghetti in half to fit the pan. Spread it out flat. It’s fine if it piles up some.
-
In a bowl or big cup, mix melted butter, chopped garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper. It looks spotty with green bits.
-
Stir hot water into the butter mix. It turns like thin gold soup with herbs.
-
Pour mix over pasta in pan. Use tongs or fork to push noodles down into liquid. Some may poke up—they’ll get soft.
-
Cover pan tight with foil. This keeps steam in to cook pasta right.
-
Bake covered 25 minutes. Take off foil (steam is hot!). Use tongs to stir noodles apart and mix in butter.
-
Put back in oven without foil. Bake 10-15 more minutes. Stir halfway if you want. Done when soft, liquid gone, top shiny and gold.
-
Stir one last time to coat all noodles. Wait 3-5 minutes to get thicker. Serve from pan with big spoon and lots of sauce!
