This Slow Cooker Peppers and Steak recipe is simple, tasty, and perfect for busy days. Soft beef strips cook slowly with colorful peppers, onion, and garlic in a sweet and savory sauce. It’s an easy dinner the whole family will enjoy, and it tastes great served over warm rice.
Ingredients
- 1½–2 lb steak (sirloin works well, but any beef or steak cut is fine)
- 3 medium peppers, chopped
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tin chopped tomatoes
- 1 beef stock cube
- 1 tbsp honey or sugar
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- Black pepper and salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)
Slow Cooker Peppers and Steak: Instructions
- Cut the steak into thin strips using a sharp knife.
- In a bowl, mix the cornflour with a little salt and pepper.
- Add the steak strips to the bowl and toss them well so every piece is fully coated in the cornflour mix.
- Place the coated steak strips into the bottom of your slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl or jug, mix together the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chopped tomatoes, and beef stock cube until well combined.
- Stir in the honey or sugar until it’s mixed into the sauce.
- Pour the sauce evenly over the steak in the slow cooker.
- Scatter the sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the meat and sauce.
- Add half of the chopped peppers on top as well.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours.
- About 1 hour before the cooking time is finished, lift the lid and stir in the remaining peppers.
- Put the lid back on and continue cooking for the last hour, until the beef is soft and the peppers are tender.
- Give everything a good stir before serving.
