Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

This Slow Cooker Butter Chicken is soft, creamy, and full of warm spices. Chicken pieces cook slowly in a tasty tomato sauce, then get mixed with cream for a smooth finish. It’s simple, cozy, and perfect with rice or naan bread any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thigh, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, chopped small
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 400g tinned tomatoes
  • 200ml double cream
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander, for topping

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken: Instructions

  1. Put the onion, garlic, ginger, butter, curry powder, tinned tomatoes, and sugar into the slow cooker.
  2. Mix everything together well.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and push them down into the sauce.
  4. Sprinkle salt over the top.
  5. Cover with the lid and cook on low for 6 hours, until the chicken is soft and the sauce is thick.
  6. Pour in the double cream and stir it through just before serving.
  7. Sprinkle fresh coriander on top.
  8. Serve warm with rice or naan bread.
