- Cook the rice: Wash the 1.5 cups jasmine rice under cold water until the water looks clear. Put it in a pot with 3 cups water (for rice) and 1 pinch salt. Turn the heat up until it starts to boil, then turn it down low, put a lid on, and let it cook for 20 minutes
