Smothered Cream Chicken 3-Ingredient Slow Cooker. Super Easy Slow Cooker Chicken in Creamy Sauce. The Recipe Everyone Asks For…
One time, my family brought this chicken dish to a big dinner party, and people literally chased me around asking for the recipe! They couldn’t believe how creamy and delicious it was, and they kept saying I must have spent hours cooking it. But here’s the secret—it only needs three ingredients and a slow cooker. The chicken gets so soft and tender that it falls apart when you touch it, and the sauce is so yummy and smooth that everyone wants seconds. It’s the kind of easy dinner that makes you look like a super good cook, even though you barely did anything!

What You Need (Feeds 6 People)
- 2 pounds of chicken breasts (the kind without skin)
- 2 cans of cream of chicken soup (the big cans, about 10.5 ounces each)
- 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning mix (the kind you sprinkle on things)
How to Make Smothered Cream Chicken
Step 1: Get Your Slow Cooker Ready
- Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray so it’s easier to clean up later.
Step 2: Put In the Chicken
- Lay your chicken breasts flat on the bottom of the slow cooker. They can touch each other a little bit—that’s totally okay.
Step 3: Mix the Sauce
- In a bowl, mix together both cans of soup and the ranch seasoning packet. Stir it really well with a whisk until it looks smooth and creamy with no lumpy parts.
Step 4: Pour on the Sauce
- Pour all that creamy mixture over the chicken. Make sure every piece of chicken gets covered with the sauce. Use a spoon to spread it around if you need to.
Step 5: Cook the Chicken
- Put the lid on your slow cooker. Cook it on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, or on HIGH for 2.5 to 3.5 hours. You’ll know it’s done when the chicken is super soft and you can pull it apart easily with a fork. LOW heat makes it the softest and best.
Step 6: Shred the Chicken
- When the chicken is cooked and soft, turn your slow cooker to WARM. Take two forks and pull the chicken apart right in the cooker, making small pieces.
Step 7: Mix It Together
- Stir the shredded chicken into all that creamy sauce so everything gets coated nicely. If the sauce looks too thick, you can add a little bit of water, milk, or chicken broth (about 2 to 4 tablespoons) to make it thinner and saucier.
Step 8: Taste It
- Try a little bit and see if you want to add more seasoning. The ranch already has salt in it, so you probably don’t need more. You can add black pepper if you like.
Step 9: Wait a Bit
- Let the chicken sit in the warm slow cooker for about 5 to 10 minutes so it soaks up even more of that yummy sauce.
Step 10: Serve It Up
- Put the chicken and sauce in bowls or on a plate with your favorite foods on the side. If you want to make it look fancy, sprinkle some chopped fresh parsley or chives on top.
