Slow Cooker Cola Ham. This is each Sunday my Uncle Joe does this. The meat is crushed and the flavor is inconceivably expensive. Just 3 ingredients..
Ingredients
-
I (4 to 6 pound) cooked bone-in ham (uncut) or boneless ham.
-
1 cup brown sugar, packed tight. You can use light or dark brown sugar.
-
2 cups cola (regular, not diet)
Slow Cooker Cola Ham: Directions
-
Wipe the ham with paper towels and place it in a bowl of large slow cooker cut-side up. Should it not fit quite, cut a bit off the end to make the lid close up.
-
Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly onto the top and sides of the ham tipping it over so that the sugar is evenly spread and does not form clumps.
-
Add the cola to the ham in the slow cooker and do not add too much of the sugar on the top. It must be partly 1 to 2 inches deep along the sides of the ham with liquid.
-
Bake at the LOW 6-8 hours or at the HIGH 3-4 hours until the ham is fully cooked and extremely tender. The flesh should be simple to tear apart with fork and the juice will look dark, sticky and bubbly on its edges.
-
Once cooked, until it is hot enough, take the ham and put on a cutting board and wrap loosely with foil and leave it to rest about ten minutes. Meanwhile, wipe off all the unnecessary fat on the surface of the cooking juices in the slow cooker.
-
Suggested, but optional: Spoon some of the dark cola-brown sugar juices over the ham where it is resting on to make another sticky coating. It is also possible to slice or shred the ham and reinsert it back into the slow cooker and mix ham with the juices so that it stays juicy and good until they are served.
-
Place the ham in the slow cooker and spoon some of the juices over each serving. Store up to 4 days of leftovers in airtight container in fridge and partially with some of the cooking juices to keep the meat juicy.
