May Day Magic Chunks Slow Cooker 5-Ingredient

May Day Magic Chunks Slow Cooker 5-Ingredient… Morning Magic Meal: Just 5 simple things. I mix it quick at breakfast so the house smells yummy all day—no hard work!

This is my no-fuss, 5-thing slow cooker recipe for sweet, sticky meat bites that fill the house with fun smells like a May Day party. It’s cheap and comfy: low-cost meat, basic sauce from your shelf, and the cooker does the job while you work or drive kids places. At dinner, you get shiny, tasty chunks in warm sauce that seems fancy, but you just tossed it in.

I love putting these sweet meat pieces on soft rice or noodles with butter. They drink up the sticky sauce. Add cooked green beans, peas, or salad from a bag for easy weeknights. For lots of people, stack on toasted buns with pickles for sandwiches. For extra cozy, use bowls with mashed potatoes and more sauce on top.

Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

  • 2 to 2 1/2 pounds cheap boneless meat (like pork shoulder, beef chuck, or chicken thighs without skin or bone), cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces

  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark, packed tight)

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (regular or low-salt)

  • 1/3 cup ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon garlic, cut into small pieces (from a jar or fresh)

May Day Magic Chunks: Directions

  1. Cut off big hard fat from the meat. Chop into about 1 1/2-inch pieces so they cook the same and get sauce all over.
  2. Spray or oil the slow cooker inside a bit. It helps clean up and stops sticking.
  3. Mix brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, and chopped garlic in a bowl. Whisk until sugar melts and it looks shiny and smooth.
  4. Put meat pieces flat in the cooker. Pour sauce on top. Stir gently so all meat gets covered good.
  5. Put lid on. Cook on low 7-8 hours or high 3 1/2-4 hours. Meat super soft, breaks easy with fork.
  6. 30 minutes before eating, take off lid and stir well. For thicker, stickier sauce, tilt lid a little for last 30-45 minutes. Liquid goes down, sauce sticks to meat.
  7. When sauce is thick and meat shiny, taste it. Add a bit more soy for salty or sugar for sweet if you want.
  8. Serve hot meat chunks with extra sticky sauce spooned over. Set cooker to warm if eating over time.
