Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of lowercase boneless, skinless chicken.

  • 1 (14-ounce) jar jellied cranberry sauce.

  • 1 (1-ounce) dry onion soup mix.

Cranberry Chicken: Directions

  1. Lay raw chicken breasts in single layer in the bottom of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker.

  2. Crack open the can of jellied cranberry sauce and pour the entire can directly over the chicken breasts and spread it with a spoon so as to cover most of the chicken.

  3. Evenly sprinkle the layer of cranberry sauce with the dry onion soup mix.

  4. Place the lid on top and cook on LOW 4-6 hours or HIGH 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours or until the chicken is cooked and can be easily shredded with a fork.

  5. When the chicken has cooked, carefully, in the slow cooker, shred or cut it in strips and then combine it into the cranberry-onion sauce to ensure that all is well covered.

  6. Salt and make any necessary adjustments (the onion soup mix is already salty, hence you might not require the additional salt) and bring the chicken to the boil with a lot of sauce pouring all over the dish of your choice.
