- 2 pounds of russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into thin slices
- 2 cups cooked ham, cut into small bite-size pieces

- 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter or cooking spray
Slow Cooker Potatoes and Ham: Steps
Step 1 – Grease the pot. Put some butter or cooking spray all around the inside of your slow cooker. This keeps the food from sticking and makes clean-up way easier later.
Step 2 – Slice the potatoes. Peel your potatoes and cut them into thin round pieces. Try to make all the slices about the same size so they cook evenly. A good sharp knife makes this part simple.
Step 3 – Mix the sauce. In a bowl, stir together the soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Keep mixing until it all looks smooth and creamy. This sauce is what makes the whole dish so yummy and rich.
Step 4 – First layer. Lay half of your potato slices on the bottom of the slow cooker. Then put half of the ham pieces on top.
Step 5 – Second layer. Do it one more time! Add the rest of the potatoes, then the rest of the ham. Layering helps the sauce reach every single piece.
Step 6 – Pour the sauce. Pour your creamy soup mixture over the top of everything. Try to cover it all. Tap the pot gently on the counter or use a spoon to help the sauce slide down between all the potato slices.
Step 7 – Cook it. Put the lid on. Cook it on LOW heat for 6 to 7 hrs or on HIGH heat for 3 to 4 hrs. It’s ready when a fork pokes into the potatoes easily and the sauce is thick and bubbly around the edges.
Step 8 – Let it rest. Switch the slow cooker to WARM. 2. Keep the lid on for 10 to 15 minutes This helps the sauce thicken up a little more and makes it much easier to scoop out and serve.
Step 9 – Taste and serve! Give it a little taste. Add little more salt or pepper according to taste. Then dish it up hot and dig in!
