Slow Cooker Sausage Dip 3 Ingredients is the ultimate easy party appetizer made with pork sausage, processed melting cheese, and diced tomatoes with green chilies. This creamy crockpot sausage dip comes together with minimal prep and delivers bold, savory flavor in every bite. Perfect for game day, holidays, or last-minute gatherings, this 3-ingredient sausage dip stays warm and smooth right in the slow cooker. One taste and you will understand why my brother devoured half the pot before the guests even arrived.
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) pork breakfast sausage or mild Italian sausage, casings taken off.
- Quantity: 1 pound (450 g)
- Notes: Sausage adds savory flavor and forms the hearty base of the dip.
- 1 pound (16 oz / 450 g) processed melting cheese (e.g. Velveeta), chopped into cubes 1 inch (4.5 cm).
- Quantity: 1 pound (16 oz / 450 g)
- Notes: Processed melting cheese creates a creamy and smooth dip.
- 1 can (10 oz/ 283 g) of diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained.
- Quantity: 1 can (10 oz / 283 g)
- Notes: Adds mild heat and tangy flavor while keeping the dip moist.
Directions
- Brown the sausage:
- Cook the sausage, breaking with a spoon, in a large skillet on medium heat until it is all brown and none of the pink is left, approximately 7-10 minutes.
- Any surplus grease should be drained to ensure that the dip is not greasy.
- Ready the slow cooker:
- To make clean-up in the slow cooker, spritz the inside of a small slow cooker (2-4 quarts) with nonstick cooking spray.
- Put the cubed processed cheese into the slow cooker crock.
- Add sausage and tomatoes:
- Spoon the sausage, which has been browned and drained on the cheese.
- Pour the whole can of diced tomatoes with green chilies (including the liquid) in the top.
- Melt:
- Put the lid on and cook in the LOW position 11/2-2 hours, or HIGH position approximately 1 hour and stir every 30 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted, and all is hot and bubbly.
- This should be a creamy, smooth dip that has browned sausage crumbles and distinct pieces of red tomatoes and green chilies.
- Serve and stir:
- Stir the dip thoroughly to allow the sausage, cheese and tomatoes to mix with green chilies.
- Place the slow cooker to the WARM mode to serve so that it remains creamy and hot.
- Direct out of the red slow cooker with your favorite dippers and be careful, somebody will likely eat half the pot before the guests even get there.
